Siddarth Kaul has revealed that he couldn’t execute the plans perfectly against Kolkata Knight Riders and that was the major reason for their failure. However, he was quick to add that it happens to every bowler and even a very good bowler like Jasprit Bumrah was hit mercilessly by Rishabh Pant.

Siddarth Kaul was having a good day against Kolkata Knight Riders until he met Andre Russell. It was Russell's pandemonium that saw Kaul, who had figures of 1/16 in the first three overs, ending up conceding 19 runs in his last over. That over pretty much shifted the momentum in KKR’s favour and Kaul admitted that it was one of those days where he failed to execute the plans.

"There was no dew or anything. The execution was the problem, to be honest, and that is why the results didn't come. But I am already working towards it and you will see the results in the next few games. You saw how (Jasprit) Bumrah was hit all over the park by (Rishabh) Pant in the game between Delhi and Mumbai,” Kaul told IANS.

"Sometimes you can't blame yourself as there are times when the execution just doesn't happen. But again, there are times when the ball comes out so well that nobody can hit you. It is part and parcel of the game. As a player, I always look to give it my best, but there are times when the execution just doesn't happen.”

Thanks to video analysis, players now have a fair idea of where to bowl against particular batsmen and no matter what the information it provides, it is very difficult to figure out what the mindset of particular batsman was going to be. And Kaul stated that he always looks to work on his basics and come into the game strongly without focusing too much on the opposition batsmen.

"We do get feedback on all the players and their areas of strengths and weaknesses. I always try to keep these things in mind and just like I said, I try to execute my plans. I always look to work on my basics and come into the game strongly without focusing too much on the opposition batsmen."

With David Warner returning to the team after a year ban and Kane Williamson not playing due to jet lag, the Hyderabad-based franchise asked Bhuvneshwar Kumar to lead the side. It was a completely new responsibility for the pacer, but Kaul said that the experience of leading the bowling group in the past helped Bhuvneshwar get into the zone easily.

"He was already the leader of the bowling group and now it was fun to play under him. It always helps when a bowler is leading the team as that means you are understood even better when it comes to the strategising. Had fun playing under him and I am hoping he too, liked the experience of leading us," he said.
