Shimron Hetmyer who was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore during the 2019 IPL auction revealed that he has learnt a great deal from seniors AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli. Hetmyer starred for the Bangalore-based franchise scoring 65 from 48 deliveries as they beat SRH by four wickets.

Windies batsman Shimron Hetmyer put up a knock to remember as he scored a blistering 75 from 47 deliveries to power Royal Challengers Bangalore to a four-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad with four balls to spare in their final match of the season. Gurkeerat Singh Mann provided ample support at the other end scoring 65 from just 38 balls after SRH posted 175/7 with the help of skipper Kane Williamson's brilliant 70.

At the post-match award presentation, Man of the Match Hetmyer admitted that the start to this season was hard for him as it took him time to adjust to the extreme pressure associated with the IPL. The young Caribbean player also added that he had learned a lot from the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers during his tenure in Bangalore.

"To start was a little tough as I was just getting used to the environment and the IPL. It's fantastic (RCB), I've learned a lot from both AB and Virat and all the coaches. Just trying to take it one step at a time.

"Sometimes it gets in your head but just try and clear your head as much as possible and go and execute," Hetmyer said at the post-match interview.

Meanwhile, Hetmyer's partner in crime last night, Gurkeerat, added that he had only one thing in mind while he was at the crease on Saturday and that was to avoid doing 'anything silly'.

"The thing is, I went in to bat in a good position and had a lot of overs to spare. I was just looking to build a partnership with Hetty. When you have someone like him (Hetmyer), you don't have to do anything silly. I just tried to get my common sense on. Really happy that we ended on a good note. The crowd has been amazing for us and we want to thank them even though things haven't gone our way. (This innings) means a lot because I haven't been on the field for nearly two years. I just wanted to make my presence felt," said Mann.
