Gautam Gambhir has hit back at Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi saying the latter is still ā€˜16-year-oldā€™ mentally as he offered to take Afridi to a psychiatrist for treatment. In his recent book titled ā€˜Game Changerā€™, Afridi said that the former Indian opener has serious attitude problems.

Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridiā€™s newly-released autobiography titled ā€˜Gamechangerā€™ has sparked a lot of controversy amongst the international cricketing fraternity. The hard-hitting cricketer has particularly written about his opinion on long-time rival and former India opener - Gautam Gambhir. Afridi has gone on to call Gambhir a person with serious attitude problems, lack of personality and someone with no records.

Obviously, the cricketer was not one to sit back and take those comments lightly without giving back. Gambhir, known for his outspoken posts on social media, claimed that Afridi is someone who has grown in age but still has the mental capacity of a 16-year old kid.

ā€œI am sure he will sell his book better. Some People grow in age not mentally. Shahid afridi may be 36, 37 years old (Afridi is 39). But he is 16 mentally. My records are in open. Becoming ICC Test player of the year, winning Test series and World Cup. People will decide what I have done for the country. Some people are really mentally ill and so need psychiatrist treatment,ā€ Gambhir told India Today during a roadshow.

Earlier, Gambhir had also put out a Tweet offering to personally take Afridi to a psychiatrist to treat his mental disorders.

Meanwhile, the 39-year old former Pakistan captain also mentioned that Gambhir acted like he was a cross between Don Bradman and James Bond in his book.

ā€œSome rivalries were personal, some professional. First the curious case of Gambhir. Oh, poor Gautam. He and his attitude problem. He, who has no personality. He who is barely a character in the great scheme of cricket. He who has no great records just a lot of attitude.Ā

ā€œIn Karachi, we call guys like him saryal (burnt up). Itā€™s simple, I like happy, positive people. Doesnā€™t matter if they are aggressive or competitive, but you have to be positive and Gambhir wasnā€™t,ā€ Afridi wrote in his autobiography.

The Indo-Pakistan pair were involved in a heated debate in 2007 during an ODI match between India and Pakistan in Kanpur. Both players were booked for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct later on.
