The nail-biting IPL final went down the throat as MI snatched a nerve-wracking win to lift their fourth IPL title. MS Dhoni was unfortunate to have been run out on 2 as his dismissal dented CSK’s hopes massively.

Shane Watson was the lone warrior on the big day as he played a match-winning knock of 80, but fell short of his ground in the final over. CSK needed 2 for the final delivery when Lasith Malinga trapped Shardul Thakur leg before for and won the game for his side.

The game was hanging down the wire till the very last delivery and the end result broke many CSK fans hearts. Sanjay Manjrekar was officially hosting the game and felt that Dhoni was heart-broken.

On his official Twitter handle, Manjrekar wrote: "My heart went out to Dhoni speaking to him in the post match, he seemed really heartbroken. Never seen him like that before.”

In the post-match presentation, Dhoni said that the team didn’t play great cricket to reach the final and they need to introspect their journey this season. Dhoni also emphasised on the misfiring middle-order and how both the team too many mistakes in a high-voltage game.

“As a team, we had a good season. But we need to go back and reflect on how we reached the finals. It's not one of those years where we played really great cricket to reach here. The middle order wasn't great, and today it was very funny as to how both teams were only passing on the trophy from one team to the other. Both teams made a lot of mistakes, the team that made one lesser mistake won," Dhoni said.
