KL Rahul, who is widely tipped to bat at number four in the Indian batting line-up, revealed that he is comfortable batting wherever the team wants him to bat. Rahul added that ā€˜formā€™ is an overrated word and he is not worried about the rough patch he endured during the series against the Aussies.

KL Rahul has been through a roller coaster six months ever since he went on Indian television on a talk show with Karan Johar along with India teammate - Hardik Pandya. Due to the controversial nature of the on-air interview, Rahul and Pandya were both dropped from theĀ tour to Australia and New Zealand. However, they were added to the Indian squad for the home series against the same opposition. While Pandya retained his form from before the suspension, Rahul endured a tough outing with the Indian team as they lost out on a series win on home soil against Aaron Finch & Co.

But Rahul impressed with the India ā€˜Aā€™ side and also did well in the recently-concluded IPL with Kings XI Punjab. The Indian batsman ended the competition with a tally 593 runs at an average of 53.90, the second-highest in the league. However, there are doubts about where Rahul will bat in the Indian team as they depart for England in the coming weeks.

"The selectors have made it clear. I am part of the team and will go with whatever the team decides when we get there," Rahul said in a recent interview with TOI.

The 27-year-old added that he is often criticised for his performances on the pitch but he is happy with where he is right now. The Mangalore-born cricketer added that he is optimistic about his opportunities in the upcoming World Cup.

"Form is an overrated word. The last couple of months have been good with the bat. Playing the series against England Lions gave me time to focus on my skill, then did well against T20s against Australia and then the IPL. I am feeling pretty confident. I realised there was no problem with my skills. Form is a very over-rated word but yes not performing well in Australia is hard on any player. Everyone wants to perform. I just took it in my stride and took it as part of the journey. I am happy with where I am at right now.Ā

"I have not really changed much. Every player goes through rough patches. Technically, I am trying to keep my batting as simple as I can. If you are hitting the ball well, your form, your technique looks good and when you are not, everything about your game looks bad. That is how it goes. Can't really sit and break your head over it and stay as positive as possible," Rahul added.
