Among many of MS Dhoniā€™s contributions to wicket-keeping manuals, the leg-flick cum block was one of the most celebrated yet the most difficult one to carry out maneuverer. Yesterday, Jos Buttler pulled off the same and in the process, he had gotten the better of Sarfaraz Ahmed in a stylish manner.

Undoubtedly, a wicketkeeper is the best man to judge a bowler or a batsman, but how many times in the history of the sport have we seen someone like MS Dhoni with the level of smart and intelligence during a game of cricket. There might be arguments that there will never be another MS Dhoni, but it is also true that the sport is defined by continuity rather than full-stops and Jos Buttler would definitely attest to that after pulling off a Dhoni-like operation behind the stumps against Pakistan yesterday.

On the penultimate ball of the 32nd over, when Sarfaraz Ahmed was unbeaten on 97, Moeen Ali dropped a short ball just outside off and on seeing the width on offer, the Pakistani skipper decided to attempt a late dab square of the wicket. While that was a pretty good shot to play, he failed to take into account the skill and intelligence of the man behind the stumps - Buttler. The English wicket-keeper, like Dhoni, had done against Manan Vohra in the 2016 IPL, kicked out his right leg and stopped the ball dead in its tracks.

In the meantime, Sarfaraz, just being Sarfaraz, tried to be cheeky and took a couple of steps as well. However, he failed to understand the simple theory that Buttler had the ball with him which brought the picture of run-out. Buttler instantly recovered and took the ball before uprooting the stumps to send Sarfaraz packing.
