ICC World Cup 2019 | Can't break my head thinking about where I will bat, reveals KL Rahul

KL Rahul has said that he is keen to perform well and is not thinking too much about where he will bat in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 which starts on May 30. The 27-year old batsman added that he hopes to carry his confidence from the IPL into the World Cup in the coming weeks.

Indian batsman KL Rahul has endured a roller coaster of a year as he went from being dropped from the Indian team to ending the recent IPL season as the second-highest run-getter with 593 runs while playing for Kings XI Punjab. The Karnataka-born batsman was included in Indiaā€™s 15-man squad for the World Cup is widely touted to be the prime contender for the hotly-debated number four batting spot in the line-up.

However, in a recent interview, When Rahul was asked about batting at the number position in the World Cup, he saidĀ that he is happy to bat at whatever position coach Ravi Shastri and captain Virat Kohli want him to.

"It is a no-brainer. It is a job for your country and your team expects you to do it, you have to do it. Anybody will do it. There is no competition here. I canā€™t break my head about it. If it is a responsibility, I will do it for my country. Everybody will be keen to play and whatever role is given, we will all try to do our best. The World Cup is a big event," Rahul told Sportstar.

Rahul, who has scored 343 runs for India from 14 ODI matches, added that he is hopeful he can carry his IPL form into the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 which is scheduled to start on May 30.

"Honestly, I was very happy and excited being a part of the World Cup team. It is a happy feeling but after that, I did not think about the World Cup as the IPL was on. All our games were tough and they were crunch games. We had to win those. The focus was on doing well in the IPL and carry that confidence into the World Cup. When the time comes and we go to the UK, the body will automatically feel pressure. The excitement of the World Cup will be so high that you wonā€™t care about your bodies, how many games you have played or whether you are coming in with form or not," Rahul added.
