Steve Smith has said that he is feeling calm and composed at the crease after getting some confidence-boosting runs in the warm-up games prior to the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales. Smith returned to the ODI squad after serving a one-year ban for his involvement in sandpaper gate scandal.

Smith scored a match-winning century in the warm-up game against England on Saturday helping his side emerge victorious. Smith has looked in good form after his return to the Australian ODI side and will hold the key to Australiaā€™s success in the World Cup. Before the ban, Smith's ODI run was pretty ordinary run in ODIs but has looked a different zone ever since his comeback with him stating that he is calm and composed out in the middle.Ā Ā

"I was actually a little bit disappointed with my one day form (before the ban). So it was nice to spend a bit of time in the middle. But I'm not reading too much into it. They are just practice games but hopefully I can keep up the form as we head into the real stuff. I am feeling composed and calm at the crease and hitting the balls I want to, to the boundary. Hopefully I can keep it up,ā€ Smith said, reported Reuters.Ā

Smith was booed by the crowd when he walked out to bat, but the elegant right-handed batsman remained unfazed and scored an emphatic ton. Australia will certainly find themselves in a better positionĀ if Smith starts milking runs when the tournament begins.Ā Ā

"I heard a few things when I went out to bat but it didn't get to me. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion in how they want to treat people but it's just water off a duck's back to me. I was just trying to keep my head down, move straight ahead and do my job," Smith added.Ā
