SoBo Supersonics failed to chase a modest total as Prithvi Shaw-led North Mumbai Panthers lifted the coveted trophy of the T20 Mumbai League. Prithvi Shaw was declared player of the series and was extremely delighted with the team's performance as well as the league's organization.

After Triumph Knights Mumbai North East had won the inaugural edition in which only six teams participated, the tournament organized by the Bombay Cricket Organization drew two more teams participate this season, with the final being played yesterday after two teams had managed to qualify through the round robin format before winning their respective semi-finals.

With cricketing talent found in every nook and corner of the nation, Prithvi Shaw seemed genuinely pleased on being able to win the tournament and appreciated the grand platform it offered toĀ Mumbai players to showcase their skills.

"The win has boosted our confidence and is a great beginning to all of our careers. Winning the T20 Mumbai tournament boosts confidence for local talent. The future certainly looks bright for Mumbai cricket," Shaw said after winning the player of the series award.

Bowling first, SoBo put up a great bowling display and restricted the opposition to only 143, feeling the trophy was within touching distance. However, the Panthers refused to give in and managed to defend the lowly total, and were subsequently crowned champions.

Randip Kumar Gupta and his brother Sandip, owners of the winning franchise, also had a few words to say to celebrate the occasion and give due credit to the organized for taking such a great initiative.

"First of all, a big thanks to everyone who supported North Mumbai Panthers. We are ecstatic to be the champions. It is a great platform for local enthusiasts to showcase their talents and being recognised all over the country. When the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, himself is overlooking the Mumbai talent, the least we can do is be a part of his dream," they remarked.
