Indian opener Mayank Agarwal has shared how scoring big centuries and shouldering the responsibility to take your team to an unassailable position after getting your ton is the key. Agarwal, who scored a double century, also shared that wicket has settled and has a great bounce in it.

It has been a day of complete Indian dominance in Indore as the home team piled up a whopping 407 runs on the second day of the Test match to take a commanding and rather a match-winning lead of 343 runs. Young opener Mayank Agarwal lead the lines with his flamboyant 243 as the batsmen toyed around with visitors’ bowling attack.

Agarwal who brought up his second double century in only eight Test matches, second to only Vinod Kambli who achieved the feat in 5 outings, shared his mantra of scoring big hundreds. The youngster who brought up double tons in consecutive series shared that shouldering the responsibility of taking the team to an unassailable position is what fuels the big hundreds.

"I think it goes down to understanding that there were times where I didn't score runs. So I must respect the game and I must respect that I am batting well. And when I am doing that I need to make sure that I am doing it big and put the team in such a position from where we can't lose. That becomes the key, knowing that you are batting well, you have got your hundred so it now on you to take the team through," the 28-year-old said in a press conference at the end of day two.

The opener seemed to be impressed with the pitch has played so far as he revealed that its settled down and holding on quite good.

"Yes, the wicket has settled down compared to what it was yesterday. It has got a lot better to bat on and the wicket is hard. So there is good bounce and there is value for your shots."

The man of the hour denied that he is under pressure due to all the talents vying to break into the national team as he said the journey of two players shouldn’t be compared. He also urged that once playing in India’s colours all that matters is contributing to the team and winning matches for the side.

"I don't look at it in that way. I put like, obviously my journey is not the same as somebody else's journey and I don't believe in comparing two people's journey. Somebody might get a chance early, somebody might get a chance late but that not in our control. So it's very important to understand that these are the things that are under my control and I am glad that I have got a chance to represent the country and build on from thereon. Look to contribute to the team, look to make those contributions so win games for your side and win tournaments for your team," the Karnataka opener signed off.
