Reports | Mickey Arthur to be head coach of Sri Lanka

Former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur is all set to take up the same role in the Sri Lankan setup after his contract ended with the PCB. Arthur is supposed to join the Lankan side as head coach, unofficially in the initial phase, ahead of the team’s tour to Pakistan which starts in December.
The former first-class cricketer is expected to replace Chandika Hathurusingha in the following month, as reported by a leading Sri Lanka daily. Arthur will be taking up the role in full capacity after the conclusion of the away series against Pakistan. The PCB had, on Thursday, officially announced a two-match Test series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan to be held in the month of September.Â
The Pakistan team is currently touring Australia for a two-match Test series starting on November 21. The series will be a part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championships.
Arthur had been with the Pakistan team for three years since his appointment in May 2016 can impart his expertise to the touring of Sri Lankan side. The island team had toured Pakistan for a limited-overs tour in which the hosts won the ODI series 2-0, while a second-string Lankan side whitewashed the home team by 3-0.
With the SLC being happy about Pakistan’s security arrangements, the tour will take place without any doubts. After a decade of wait, Test cricket will return to Pakistan at Rawalpindi on December 11.Â
