West Indian sensation Shimron Hetmyer and New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme have been released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the IPL auction in December. RCB have managed to retain their batting core in the form of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali.

Yet another year and yet another attempt from RCB to revamp their team to finally win their maiden IPL title as they released promising youngster Shimron Hetmyer, all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme, Tim Southee from their roaster. It is a no brainer that they retained their stars Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers along with the impressive Moeen Ali.

RCB has always been a top-heavy side and has always lacked the middle-order strength and the finishing ability which makes the exclusion of de Grandhomme and Marcus Stoinis even more perplexing. However, they have shown faith in young Shivam Dube who had an impressive India A tour of West Indies and will be looking towards IPL 2020 as his break out season.

Karnataka youngster Devdutt Padikkal promises to strengthen their middle-order after having a fantastic Vijay Hazare Trophy and having scored a century in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game against Andhra. In the fast bowling department, the in-form Indian pacers Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini have been retained while Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile has been let go by the franchise. RCB now has 12 slots available to fill out of which six are overseas and will have Rs. 27.90 crores in their kitty to build their squad around the already retained core.

Retained Players: Virat Kohli, Moeen Ali, Yuzvendra Chahal, Parthiv Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Pawan Negi, Devdutt Padikkal, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Navdeep Saini, AB de Villiers

Released Players: Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, Akshdeep Nath, Dale Steyn (Nathan Coulter-Nile), Colin de Grandhomme, Prayas Ray Barman, Tim Southee, Kulwant Khejroliya, Himmat Singh, Heinrich Klaasen, Milind Kumar
