Paras Khadka steps down as Nepal captain one day after readmission

Veteran Nepal cricketer Paras Khadka has relinquished his captaincy just a day after his country's readmission by the ICC as Full Members. Khadka, who has represented Nepal in 33 international matches, made headlines last month after becoming the first Nepalese player to hit a T20I hundred.
In what comes as a shock to Nepal cricket, veteran cricketer Paras Khadka had decided to call time on his captaincy just a day after his country's readmission by the ICC as Full Members. In 2016, Nepal were suspended by the ICC on grounds of breaching ICC regulations, similar to that of Zimbabwe. However, both countries were reinstated by the council on Tuesday and Khadka's resignation sensationally comes just a day after the good news for Nepal cricket.
The former skipper took to Twitter to announce his resignation and said "Great to know that the suspension of Nepal cricket has been lifted and would like to wish the new committee to work for the betterment of Nepal cricket, players and its stake-holders. I have hereby decided to resign from my post as the captain of Nepal cricket team. Jai Nepal!!".
31-year-old Khadka has been the heart and soul of Nepal cricket over the course of the last four years and the veteran also led his side to their first-ever ODI series win against UAE earlier this year. Last month, Khadka also became the first Nepal player to score T20I century, registering a blistering 106* against Singapore. Thus far, there has been no announcement from the Cricket Association of Nepal on who the next captain will be.
