Bangladesh have been hit by a massive injury scare ahead of their tour to India after opener Tamim Iqbal was forced to miss the second round of NCL matches owing to injury. Tamim reportedly complained of a muscle strain after the first match and hence was rested for the second round of matches.

Bangladesh might potentially be without their star man Tamim Iqbal for their upcoming tour of India next month, as the left-hander was withdrawn from the second round of National Cricket League (NCL) matches on Thursday after sustaining a muscle injury in the first match against Dhaka Metro, representing Chittagong.

"He was feeling muscle strain on the right side of his rib and we decided to rest him as a precaution and sent him to BCB," a Chittagong official told Cricbuzz.

"He already had this pain earlier and it probably resurfaced so we wanted him to have a scan and look into the gravity of the injury," he further added. "It seems to be a grade one tear but you can come to know only after the scan is completed," the official added.

Despite having a dismal World Cup where he managed to score a solitary fifty, Tamim remains one of the key members of the Bangladesh side and losing their experienced man would be a body blow to the Tigers ahead of their tour to India.

Bangladesh will play three T20Is and two Tests against India in the month of November, with the tour set to kick-off with the first T20I on November 3 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
