Ambati Rayudu has said that he has no regrets about his infamous ‘3D’ comment at MSK Prasad, the chairman of selectors. he also admitted that he understands that the committee’s decision to include Vijay Shankar in the World Cup squad ahead of him was in the best interest of the team.

On Friday, in an interaction with reporters, the elegant right-hander mentioned that he fully acknowledges the decision made by the national selection committee, which resulted in crushing his dream of making a World Cup appearance for India. Rayudu had responded with a jibe at the Prasad, via Twitter, quoting controversy for his 3D comment.

"Just ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the World Cup," he tweeted on April 16, in an apparent reference to chief selector MSK Prasad's remark that Vijay Shankar was preferred because of his "three-dimensional" abilities.

Later, as Mayank Agarwal was preferred the replacement for an injured Vijay Shankar, a heartbroken Rayudu announced that he would no longer play cricket, in any format. After a troubling couple of months, Rayudu is back to playing the game he is good at and admits that the World Cup snub affected him badly.

"I don't regret anything. Yes, it was disappointing to miss out. I was looking forward to playing in it (the World Cup) ... I was prepared to play the World Cup. It is their call to make in terms of making decisions. They must have had their plans and I am sure in the best interest of the team and without bias," Rayudu told PTI.

Rayudu, who has played 55 ODIs and 6 T20 internationals, owed his decision to come out of a shock retirement to the wise counsel from fellow Hyderabadis VVS Laxman, Noel David, and officials of the Chennai Super Kings franchise.

"CSK officials, Laxman bhai and Noel bhai talked to me and I felt it made sense to reconsider my decision to retire. I thought about it and felt it was hasty. The people at CSK played a huge role in me reconsidering the decision. They put things in perspective and made me realise that I still love the game and am fit to play,” Rayudu said.

After the Hyderabad Cricket Association acknowledged his desire to turn out for the team in all formats, Rayudu has been playing in a limited-overs tournament for Tamil Nadu Cricket Association First Division teams in Chennai.

"In terms of Hyderabad, I am looking to enjoy my cricket and help the team to get the best out of everyone. My focus now is on playing well for Hyderabad. I have really enjoyed playing in the TNCA tourney. The standard was very high and it was a great start to get back to cricket and prepare for the Vijay Hazare Trophy," Rayudu added.
