BCCI accepts Dinesh Karthik's unconditional apology over violation of contract clauses
The Board of Cricket Control in India, on Monday, accepted Dinesh Karthik's 'unconditional apology' that he made over the CPL dressing room row. The said cricketer had violated a contract clause when he watched a Caribbean Premier League game from a participating team's dressing room.
Earlier, Dinesh Karthik was seen in the dressing room of the Trinbago Knight Riders' ahead of their opening match against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. Following that, the KKR captain, who was seen in a Trinbago Jersey while watching the said match, was asked by the BCCI to issue a show-cause notice, asking why his central contract should not be cancelled.
Karthik then offered an "unconditional apology" for violating BCCI's central contract clause by watching the CPL game from the dressing room of the franchise owned by Shah Rukh Khan, who also owns KKR.
"The BCCI has accepted Dinesh Karthik's apology and the matter is now a closed chapter," a Board official told PTI.
Karthik was initially questioned by BCCI because according to the central contract, Karthik was supposed to first take permission from the BCCI before attending the match. His contract precludes him from being associated with any private league.
In reciprocation, Karthik submitted an apology with a report that said that he went to Port of Spain on KKR coach Brendon McCullum's request and watched the match wearing the Trinbago jersey on Baz's insistence.
