The Royal Challengers Bangalore have appointed former Indian team trainer Shanker Basu in a similar capacity for the team following their dismal performance last year. They also appointed new bowling and batting coaches apart from fresh appointments in physio, scouting and team management.

After finishing bottom of the pile in the IPL last season, Royal Challengers Bangalore seem to be adamant to turn their fate around and have already started working on the same. Having recently announced Simon Katich as the head coach for the tournament’s next edition and Mike Hesson as director of cricket operations, it has now made a whole lot of appointments in the support staff.

Shanker Basu, who was until recently serving as the Team India fitness coach before refusing the contract renewal that was offered to him post the World Cup, has been named the strength and conditioning coach. He is largely given credit for the national team’s elevated fitness level and had made the yo-yo test mandatory. He has also worked closely with franchise captain Virat Kohli in the past.

Former Australian bowling coach Adam Griffith has also been roped in, while Sridharan Sriram was announced as the batting and spin bowling coach for the team. He had previously worked with Kings XI Punjab as their batting coach and has also been a consultant for the Australian cricket team. Evan Speechly was given the role of physio, Malolan Rangarajanhas was declared to be head of scouting whereas Soumyadeep Pyne will be working in the capacity of team manager.
