Sridharan Sriram focuses to work on Umesh Yadav's new ball wicket-taking skills at RCB

Sridharan Sriram, who has been appointed as RCB's new batting and spin bowling coach, has stated that he will work on Umesh Yadav's new ball wicket-taking skills. The current Australian team spin bowling consultant, Sriram, has also added that he is looking forward to working with Virat Kohli.
A doughty left-handed allrounder, Sridharan Sriram had played for Royal Challengers Bangalore for one season after getting BCCI amnesty for joining rebel Indian Cricket League, where he played for Chennai Superstars and Ahmedabad Rockets. While seeing his career not taking off, Sriram, who played eight ODIs for India between 2000 and 2004, took up coaching as a profession.
After few freelance gigs with Australia, he penned down a long-term deal and largely credited for improving Steve Smith's batting against spin. Now, entrusted with the responsibility of batting and spin bowling at RCB, Sriram has a host of superstar to handle but he has focused his target on Umesh Yadav, a pacer.
“Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has a good record at this ground. The spinners have controlled the middle overs well here. And someone like Washington Sundar is smart, alters his pace well and has subtle variations. We need to work on a lot of things like why Umesh Yadav did not pick enough wickets with the new ball last season," Sriram told Sportstar.
Sriram will team up with Mike Hesson and Simon Katich at the RCB backroom and will work closely with the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. On being asked about the prospect of working with so many superstars in the team, Sriram seems excited at the challenge.
“Kohli is among the best batsman in the world, if not the best, and he leads India. It doesn’t get better than this. And RCB also has A.B. de Villiers, such a gifted player,” said the former India and Tamil Nadu cricketer.
