Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford scored two goals in two minutes to secure a 2-1 win for against CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford. Chelsea finished runners-up, behind AS Roma, in their group after they could only manage a draw against Atletico Madrid Stamford Bridge courtesy of a Stefan Savic own goal.

Manchester United 2 – 1 CSKA Moscow

Manchester United entered the last 16 of the Champions League as winners of Group A after registering a 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford. Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford secured the win for Jose Mourinho's side after CSKA had taken the lead through Alan Dzagoev late in the first half.

The Moscow team got the lead in controversial fashion, in the 45th minute, when Vitinho's shot was diverted into the net by Alan Dzagoev. United's defenders claimed he was offside, but replays suggested the officials made the right decision which helped the Russian team open their goal tally.

However, Lukaku and Rashford secured the top spot for the United side in the second half as they both made the most of two sublime passes from Paul Pogba and Juan Mata in the space of two minutes.

Chelsea 1 – 1 Atletico Madrid

Chelsea came into the Group C clash with lesser pressure than their opponents as they had already have booked their spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League with the help of a 4-0 away win over Qarabag in late November.

But it was Atletico who took the lead in the 56th minutes when Saul Niguez put a header past header. Eden Hazard's deflected shot off Stefan Savic handed the equalizer for the Blues. Even though Atletico did concede a goal with 15 minutes to go, they were successful in denying Chelsea the top spot in Group C after Roma's 1-0 win at home to Qarabag.

Antonio Conte's men might have a difficult game in the round of 16 as they can only face Besiktas, Barcelona, or Paris Saint-Germain in the next round.
