FC Basel have beaten Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United in the Champions League thanks to Michael Lang 89th minute winner yesterday. Chelsea, on the other hand, registered a comfortable 4-0 victory over 10-man FK Qarabag in Baku to secure their place in the last 16 of the continental tournament.

FC Basel 1 – 0 Manchester United

Jose Mourinho made a number of changes to his starting XI for his side's visit to Switzerland. United showed their dominance in the first half of their penultimate group game as Marouane Fellaini and Marcos Rojo, back for the first time after a serious knee injury last year, hit the woodwork as the match entered in the second half goalless. Despite United dominating proceeding with 57% possession, it all proved to be in vain as the visitors were undone by Michael Lang. In the 89th minute of the game, Lang turned home a late cross to hand the Swiss side a win that has boosted their bid to make it to the knockouts of Europe's famous competition.

FK Qarabag 0 – 4 Chelsea

Two goals from Willian, as well as spot-kicks from Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas, secured the Blues' spot in the round of 16 in Group C with a game to spare. Hazard opened the scoring for the visitors with a 21st-minute penalty, minutes after Qarabag captain Rashad Sadygov was shown a straight red card as he tugged back Willian. With the hosts under the cosh, Chelsea began to assert themselves in the game and it led to Willian doubling his side's advantage in the 36th minute. The second half was much the same as Cesc Fabregas converted a second-half penalty awarded for a shirt tug on Willian. The Brazilian, then, completed his brace as he netted a superb effort with five minutes left to play to send Chelsea into the last 16 of the Champions League with a game left to play.

PSG 7 – 1 Celtic

Paris Saint-Germain confirmed their status as one of the favorites for the title with a 7-1 thrashing of Celtic in the French capital. The Scottish champions took a shock lead in the first minute of the match thanks to Moussa Dembele’s strike. But that was as good as it got for them. World record signing Neymar levelled things up in the 9th minute before putting his side ahead in the 22nd. The Brazilian then set up the third for Edinson Cavani to make it comfortable for the hosts. Kylian Mbappe’s goal, in the 35 minute, took the French side into half time with the scoreline reading 4-1. A five minute spell, from the 75th till the 80th minute, saw Marco Verratti, Cavani, and Dani Alves score a goal apiece to add some gloss the scoreline which read 7-1 by the time the referee blew the final whistle.
