Josep Gombau has stated that though the match they play next will be a match between two teams that are at the last two places on the table, he asserted that it will be an important one nevertheless. Delhi Dynamos have not been able to win even a single game this Indian Super League season.
The Delhi Dynamos coached by Josep Gombau would like to at least win one game before the Indian Super League (ISL) goes into the break for the AFC Asian Cup. For their next match, the Dynamos will take on Chennaiyin FC who too have not had a good season and thus are languishing at the bottom of the table just behind the Dynamos. At the pre-match conference, the Gambau talked about how his team would approach the match.
"It is true that tomorrow the match will be between two bottom teams in the Hero ISL. For us, it is an important game to try and win in this competition this year. So, we come with this mentality. I know that for Chennaiyin too, this is also an important game. But I hope that we can win," he said.
The Dynamos have only five points from eleven games so far in the tournament which makes their road to the top four virtually impossible.
"We are playing good football. We are creating chances, but we are not scoring too much which is a problem. But we can also improve a lot in the defensive aspects because we are conceding goals. We are not getting the results, which is a bit frustrating," he stated.
But Gombau also felt that apart from the scoring issue the team does not has any major problems. He even insisted that in fact, the team has been playing reasonably well.Â
"My opinion is that we are playing quite well. We started the season very very late. A lot of circumstances meant that we didn’t have a lot of foreign players until a few weeks before the start of the season. We have had a lot of games in a short time. Now that we have everybody available, we are playing good but we are not winning. We need to take our chances and score to win the game," he said.
