FC Goa are reportedly close to signing Moroccan midfielder Zaid Krouch in the international break as manager Sergio Lobera looks to bolster the midfield. After 11 games, the Gaurs have emerged as one of the title contenders again with 20 points and sitting third on the table in the playoff spot.

After ATK added Delhi Dynamos’ Pritam Kotal and former Bengaluru FC’s Edu Garcia to the midfield following an average ending to the third phase of the league, it is now FC Goa who are pulling the strings. As per reports by Goal, the Goa-based franchise has been all set to sign Morocco’s Zaid Krouch adding him to the likes of Edu Bedia, Ahmed Jahouh, and Hugo Bumous.

The 27-year-old midfielder has represented his national side in the 2014 African Nations Championship and had last played for Moroccan outfit Moghreb Tetouan. Making his debut in Botola Pro league back in 2011, Krouch has never left his country to play for any club outside.

However, with his prior experience under Lobera, who has managed Moghreb Tetouan between 2014 and 2017, settling into a new team shouldn’t be a problem for the attacking midfielder. Quite familiar with Lobera’s philosophy, he has also played with the likes of Jahouh, Boumous, and Mourtada Fall were at some point or the other in the last few years.

FC Goa have been their usual offensive self this season as well, scoring 27 goals in 11 games and conceding 17 in the process. They remain the highest scorer in the league and have also conceded the most number of goals amongst the top six sides in the table. With seven more matches to go, Goa have a list of tricky fixtures, most of which they have to win, in order to stave off the pressure from Jamshedpur FC and ATK for the fourth place on the table.
