China’s Zhejiang Lǜchéng is in advanced talks with Bengaluru F.C over the possible transfer of Edu Garcia to the Chinese side before the February 28 transfer deadline. BFC would become the first Indian club to be paid by a foreign club for a player’s transfer if he leaves for the Chinese club.

It is for the first time that an Indian football team is in talks with a foreign club over the transfer of its player. According to sources close to Goal.com, Garcia has been offered a massive salary hike and the Green Giants have no problem in paying the transfer fee for the Spanish player.

The player has been on the radar of Zhejiang Lǜchéng’s coach, Sergi Barjuan, to bolster their attack for the next season of the Chinese second division league. Garcia played an important role for the ISL newbies to rise at the top of the table this season as Bengaluru are five points clear of Pune City with 34 points from 16 games. The forward has scored twice and registered 5 assists in the 14 matches so far.

The Zaragoza born had not played outside Spain until last year as he was signed by BFC on a one year deal, whose contract is set to expire on May 31. He has spent three years of his career at his childhood club Real Zaragoza before moving to Ebro in 2012.

He had scored 16 goals for Ebro in his second stint with the club helping them to get a promotion to the Segunda Division B. He was released by Real Zaragoza in 2016 as he ended the season with 2 goals in 27 appearances for the club.
