Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has signed a new deal with Liverpool, extending his contract with the Reds for another year. The 26-year-old signed for Liverpool in 2017 from Arsenal, but has struggled to establish himself after he ruptured his cruciate ligament six months into his Anfield career.

The 26-year-old made an incredible return in April 2019 after missing out on a year’s worth of action when he ruptured his cruciate ligament in the 2018 Champions League semi-final. That saw him ruled out for the next six months, but various complications extended that by another few months, which only saw Oxlade-Chamberlain make his debut in the final stages of the last season.

However, with him now fit and ready for action, manager Jurgen Klopp believes that the 26-year-old will now be like a new signing for the Reds. The former Borussia Dortmund manager also added that the club has offered Chamberlain a new deal, with BBC confirming that the club and the English star has come to an agreement. The 26-year-old has signed a one-year extension to his current contract the report added, which will see him committed to the club till 2023.

"I'm really, really excited - it's been in the pipeline for a little while, so it's nice to finally get it done and just extend my time here, which I am really looking forward to," Oxlade-Chamberlain said to BBC.

"I feel like I missed out on a year, which I obviously did, so it's really exciting for me to be able to sign. It's something that I feel is an opportunity to give that year back and make up for lost time - and hopefully put in some good performances to make amends for not being around last year. You've got to count your blessings every time you get an opportunity like this, you don't get the chance to play for Liverpool Football Club every day. I am really excited to be able to extend my time here," concluded the midfielder.
