LIVE Intercontinental Cup | India vs DPR Korea – Match 4
After a humiliating defeat at the hands of lower-ranked Tajikistan’s U-23 side, the Blue Tigers would be taking on Asia’s World Cup veterans North Korea. After losing to Syria quite comprehensively in their first match, like India, they would be needing a must-win to stay in the tournament.
India’s superior first-half display against Tajikistan was proven false by the visitors as they struck four goals in the second to win the match that gave the defending champions a huge blow. Though manager Igor Stimac has dismissed the importance of the tournament by pointing World Cup qualifiers as the more important assignment, the lack of cohesiveness at the back keeps India in jeopardy for that as well.
Like India, Korea, too, had a positive start to their game against Syria, as they started off with a lead in just the third minute before the table turned for them as well in the second half. They went on to lose 2-5 that match and coming against a side with similar deficiencies would be a competitive affair. Stimac would be aware of Korea’s tremendous persistence and he wouldn’t want huge gaps for their opponents to explore the defensive lines. The return of Sandesh Jhinghan to the side would be a welcome news for the fans.
