ATK on Monday announced the signing of their sixth foreign player, former Australian international Dario Vidosic, for the 2019-20 season of the Indian Super League. The Croatia-born midfielder has played in various clubs in his home country of Australia as well as in the German top tier league.

In a big move, former ISL champions ATK have confirmed that they have completed the transfer of Dario Vidosic to the club for the upcoming season of the Indian Super League. The 32-year-old was born in Croatia but moved at a very small age to Australia and has since plied his trade in the country for the majority of his career. The attacking midfielder, also capable of playing as a winger, has 23 appearances and a couple of goals to his name for the Socceroos.

“Dario is an experienced campaigner and a wonderful addition to the team. I am looking forward to working with him and create a strong attacking midfield that will support the strikers ably,” ATK head coach Antonio Lopez Habas was reported saying by Scroll.in.

Vidosic had got off to a promising start in his career playing for the Brisbane Roar before he was scouted and signed by Bundesliga club FC Nurnberg. A successful stint saw him getting called up for the national team before returning to play in the A-League for Adelaide United in 2011.

Since then, he has played for clubs in Switzerland, China and Korea before returning yet again to the A-League. He last played for Melbourne City before agreeing to represent the Red and White brigade from Kolkata.

“I am happy to have signed for ATK. This will be exciting and a new experience for me. I am hoping that I can help ATK lift the Cup again,” the Australian stated.

With this signing, ATK have fulfilled their quote of having a minimum of six foreign players and can only buy one more player from abroad if they are to retain the other international players in the squad. The team finished sixth in the league last season and will be looking forward to improving on the same when the new season begins in October.
