Minerva Punjab merge with RoundGlass Sports
2017-18 I-League champions Minerva Punjab have found a new co-owner in RoundGlass Sports, who would be accessing to all age groups from under-11 to under-18 while Minerva Punjab would be accessing the senior team. RoundGlass has been running grassroots football programs in Punjab.
RoundGlass has been taking part in age-specific leagues organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for some time now with the academy even receiving a two-star rating from the AIFF last season. The foundation started by Indian-origin corporate Gurpreet (Sunny) Singh has agreed to a 50-50 merger with Minerva Punjab owner Ranjit Bajaj.
The representatives of RoundGlass Sports have also spoken to the AIFF about the deal, as a federation official informed that they have been instructed to get all documentations done properly. “The AIFF has told them to keep it informed to ensure that there are no hitches over club licensing requirements,” the official said, reported HT.
Minerva owner Bajaj had been looking for investors for quite some time and had even confirmed to the media about the same earlier this month. He had even written to the AIFF for a possible 50% sale of the club.
“We now have access to approximately 120 children across all ages who are a step closer to be being inducted into our world-class football academy; through our talent program,” said Singh in a media release late on Tuesday, “With this merger our kids will have access to the globally recognized (sic) coaching staff and facilities,” said Bajaj.
