Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri has said that he wants to get a quick answer on the ongoing confusion regarding the Indian domestic football calendar. The Bengaluru FC captain had led the team in both the domestic club-level tournaments in India - I-League and Indian Super League (ISL).

There is a lot of confusion going around the Indian domestic football as the club owners, players and others associated with the sport still don’t have any clarity regarding the future of the I-League. Till the last season, India used to have two football leagues – I League and the Indian Super League (ISL). However, with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) looking forward to have only one league in the country from the upcoming season, the confusion surrounding the I-League clubs have further grown. There are discussions that the I-League might be merged with the existing ISL from the upcoming season of Indian domestic football.

Meanwhile, Chhetri, who won the title with Bengaluru FC in both the leagues, has said that he needs a quick clarity on the calendar of Indian domestic football.

"I just want to get the answer quick. It is always conducive when you know the whole calendar as to what team, which team, what league, which games and stuff like that," Chhetri said during a press conference, reported PTI.

"I've heard that all the big think-tanks are working very hard, I know it's not easy. I just hope that we get the answers soon. And if we don't you guys, the media, please keep asking them.”

The Indian team will next play in the King’s Cup on 5th of this month and Igor Stimac has also finalised the 23-man squad for the tourney. The Blue Tigers will face Curacao in their opening battle in Buriram in Thailand and the team underwent a training camp under the watchful eyes of newly-appointed chief coach Stimac in Delhi. Chhetri mentioned that the players are happy with Stimac’s tactical and technical knowledge.

"It's been 7-8 days of training, and what the players have been really happy is about the coach's tactical, and technical knowledge where we understand things, and improve ourselves. Stimac's man management has been exceptional as he talks to everyone. He is open minded, said the Indian skipper.

"Players can go and talk to him anytime. It also helps as he was a player. So a lot many times when he talks to you, you get to understand that he too understands what a player goes through, and his needs. It's all synchronised."
