Women’s game, infrastructure development are key areas of AIFF’s new plan

Development of football infrastructure and women’s football in India have been given priority in the All India Football Federation (AIFF)’s new strategic plan. AIFF president Praful Patel launched the plan for Indian football which has been designed for four years that is till the end of 2022.

The AIFF is committed towards the development of infrastructure for footballers in the country and this is one of the key areas in the second strategy plan as the football body launched the plan paper recently. The national federation is also going to look after the women’s football more in the next four years till the end of 2022. AIFF president launched the plan and the first copy was submitted to the FIFA directors Theodore Giannikos and Sanjeevan Balasingham.

The main aim of the plan is to align the AIFF with the next cycle of FIFA forward which is the new system of development funding provided by FIFA to various national bodies. The AIFF has stated in a press release that the objectives and targets in this four-year plan have been set keeping in mind the long-term goals to be achieved for Indian football over the next 25 years.

“These strategic goals shall act as the connecting threads between individual developmental projects, and shall align key stakeholders and help define priorities while formulating policies, implementing plans and taking decisions,” the AIFF said in a press release, reported PTI.

The strategic goals till 2022 are: competition-oriented development, pursue excellence, go local (capacity building at state associations), more opportunities for women, infrastructure and legacy (including mega events), broad-basing the game and use of technology to fast track growth.
