Raheem Sterling believes Manchester City can win the Champions League if they keep their eye on the prize. The Cityzens’ have dominated England under Pep Guardiola but have struggled to make it past the quarter-finals in the Champions League, losing most recently to Tottenham last year.

Manchester City became the first men’s team to win the domestic treble in England but ever since Pep Guardiola took over, they’ve failed to do well in Europe. The farthest the Cityzens have managed to reach has been the quarter-finals, losing to Tottenham and Liverpool over the last two seasons. They’ve even been knocked out in the last 16 of the Champions League, losing to Monaco over two legs in the 2016/17 season.

However, City now top Group C with six points from two games, after beating both Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Zagreb comfortably, with back-to-back games against Atlanta up next. But Raheem Sterling believes that the knockout stages are where the real challenges come. In an interview with Sky Sports, the Manchester City star believes that while it will get tough, City have a genuine chance to go all the way.

“We know the teams we have in Europe, they are top opponents. It will never be easy to win it. We need to keep going. The most important thing is trying to qualify from this group. If we keep doing that, year in year out, the better chance we will have to win it,” said Sterling reports Sky Sports.

"We just need to progress to the group stages and think about it later. We just need to keep focus. There are more games coming up and we know they are going to be difficult. So we just need to keep going. We go to the weekend now and we need to focus on that."
