Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that there may not be any new additions in January unless the club really needs new players. The North Londoners have struggled so far in both the Premier League and Champions League with injuries and various other internal issues playing a part.

Tottenham’s terrible start to the season has seen their squad freshness and Mauricio Pochettino’s skill as a manager questioned over the international break. They’ve won just three games in all competitions with draws against Arsenal, Manchester City, and Olympiacos and have lost to a myriad of clubs. That includes Bayern Munich, Colchester United, Brighton and Leicester City amongst others which have raised a few questions. However, injuries to Hugo Lloris, Christian Eriksen, Giovani Lo Celso, and Ryan Sessegnon have further added to Mauricio Pochettino’s headaches.

While Eriksen might play against Watford both Lo Celso and Sessegnon are out for at least a few more months and Lloris is set to miss the rest of the year after dislocating his elbow. Yet despite all the injury problems and Pochettino admitting that he needs new players, the Argentine went on to reveal that the January window may not see new faces walk in. The former Southampton boss even added that he believes that big changes half-way through a season is not going to help the club and only a major situation in December will change that.

“No, I don’t believe there will be changes in January. I believe in the players we have. If it is my decision, I am going to stick with the players because I know they have the quality. It’s only to unlock some situation that is going on in their minds. I never was keen on January and I will not change now because it is a tough period,” said Pochettino reports the Guardian.

"Some circumstances can arise in December and January and you need to take some decisions but we are not going to force nothing. We decided the squad was decent and now we have to be strong that our decision was right. We cannot change quickly because we are suffering a storm.

Tottenham’s performances before the international break saw their wretched start to the season continue with the North Londoners conceding 10 goals in just two games. Not only that, it saw them falling well behind Manchester City and Liverpool in the race for the title. But despite their performances recently Pochettino insisted that the group is united and fully committed to the club’s cause. The Argentine went on to add that an unnamed player invited him and his entire coaching staff for dinner which proves that the team is united and committed.

"When last week, you receive a text from the player inviting you and the coaching staff for a dinner only two things can happen. Because they want to say goodbye. Or because they feel that they love you and they want to show that they are with you. And I think it's the second. They are not about to say goodbye to me. To say goodbye to me, say goodbye here. Not inviting me to dinner."

“Is there a cable that connects all the people or is the cable cut at some point and you see that it doesn’t work? The most important is that. When the players have returned [from international duty], you feel the energy and it’s because something special has happened at the club,” concluded the Argentine.
