NorthEast United FC have kept adding to their recently depleted squad in small proportions with their latest acquisition being that of Colombian midfielder Jose Leudo for yet another season. Playing in the central midfield, the defensive midfielder was an integral part of NEUFC’s brilliant campaign.

After their star manager Eelco Schattorie and striker Bartholomew Ogbeche were lured away by Kerala Blasters after a successful last season, the Highlanders have been in a fix as they lacked the financial firepower to find like for like replacements.

However, their biggest highlight of the summer transfer season has been roping in Croatian coach Robert Jarni to lead the side with the familiar face of Khalid Jamil assisting him on the sidelines. As far as players are concerned, NEUFC have got in Milan Singh from Mumbai City FC, young Martin Chaves from Uruguay, and South American forward Maximilliano Barreiro.

Amongst their major retentions were Federico Gallego from last season, who had a sad end to the previous season after he broke his leg in the semi-final, and Leudo. The 25-year-old defensive-minded player had put in as many as 41 tackles and 26 interceptions last season, which was only bettered by Rowllin Borges in numbers.
