Former India International Bhaskar Ganguly has blamed the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for not giving the Indian players more game time in the football season. He believes that the players do not get enough game time to improve their skills unlike the scenario in European football

One of the finest goalkeepers India has ever produced, Bhaskar admitted that in Europe, players get more games in a season and is the reason for the top quality football played. He slammed the All India Football Federation for trimming the football season and confining it to a couple of tournaments.

"In Europe, along with the leagues, they have FA Cup, European Football, UEFA Cup. They play so many games. Our federation prepares a calendar for only one I-League. Can you tell me the logic behind shortening the Federation Cup and naming it Super Cup?” said Bhaskar.

He opined that it is time that the teams should play more tournaments like the IFA Shield, Durand Cup and DCM apart from the Santosh Trophy. Bhaskar also remarked that the sponsors are interfering too much into the club affairs which is having a negative effect.

“Here in India, sponsors are interfering too much. They are getting in the daily functioning of the club,” said the veteran. East Bengal recently had a conflict of interest after their primary sponsor QUESS started interfering with the day to day activities of the club.
