PKL 2017 | Patna Pirates hand Telugu Titans their fifth consecutive loss

Dubki King Pradeep Narwal was at his best yet again against Telugu Titans as he scored 12 raid points to help his team thrash the home team by a margin of 43-36 in a high scoring game. The Patna skipper was backed up by a scintillating defence which scored as many as three super tackles on the day.

Rahul Chaudhari won the toss and chose the court and invited Patna Pirates to raid first. Patna started off well as they raced into a 3-0 lead while sending two key players of the home team, Rahul Chaudhari and Rakesh Kumar to the bench.On the other hand, Nilesh Salunkhe opened the account for the Titans as he claimed a raid point. After a quick start to the game, Patna’s skipper Narwal kept the trend going as he added a point by sending Rohit Rana off the mat. But the Titans’ responded well as not only did they manage to reduce the deficit, they also even managed to level the score at 6-6. With the game swinging both ways, Patna Pirates then earned two points by inflicting a super tackle on star raider Rahul Chaudhari. This took the scoreboard to 7-10 as Patna opened up a three point lead. Later, Patna sent Rohit Rana to the bench to bring back their skipper Narwal with the score now at 9-12.  But the Titans were roared on by the home crowd, especially because they were playing their last home game, and they did not disappoint the crowd as they produced a super tackle on Pardeep Narwal to level the score up at 12-12. In response, Patna Pirates inflicted the first all-out of the game which helped them secure more points to take the score to 15-19. At the end of the first half Patna added four more points which helped them go into the break with 7 seven point lead at 23-16.

An all-around Patna Pirates wipe out Telugu Titans

The second half got off to slow start as we saw two rounds of empty raids. However, Telugu finally got off the mark in the half as Rakshith managed a successful raid. But Narwal exacted revenge as he sent Rohit Rana off the mat. The pressure was easily seen on the home team as they seemed unable to earn points by neither raids nor tackles and soon Pardeep completed his super 10 after inflicting the second all-out on the home team which helped Patna double the difference as the score reached 34-17. In response, Rahul managed two points and sent Patna’s dubki king Pardeep Narwal off the mat. But soon Patna scored a super tackle to take the score to 36-21. A super tackle was again on the cards for Pirates and they cashed in on the opportunity scoring two points pinning Rahul Chaudhari to the mat. Though the Telugu Titans tried to come back strong, Patna smartly maintained their lead at 40-23.  Finally, for the first time in the whole game, Telugu managed to inflict an all-out on Patna and to reduce the deficit to 30-40. But it was too little too late as Patna finished with a comprehensive 43-36 win.
