IPKL 2019 | Chennai Challengers win cliff-hanger against Telugu Bulls while Diler Delhi beats Mumbai Che Raje

The last day of the Pune leg in the inaugural edition of the Indo-International Premier Kabaddi League (IPKL) saw Diler Delhi defeating Mumbai Che Raje by nine points. In the South Indian derby later in the evening, Chennai Challengers won the nail-biting thriller against Telugu Bulls.

Star attraction of the league Sunil Jaipal led from the front again for the team from the national capital against Mumbai Che Raje. Jaipal scored nine raid points and one tackle point as Diler Delhi defeated Mumbai by a margin of 45-36 points in the first game of the last evening at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi in Pune.

Delhi was the team which dominated proceedings from the very beginning of the match and at the end of the first half, they were leading by 28-12 points. The second half was no different in spite of Mumbai trying a bit to reduce the margin. The game eventually ended with Delhi winning by nine points and Jaipal collecting the Player of the Match award.

The second game of the evening, on the other hand, was full of action and excitement. It was a South Indian derby with Chennai Challengers and Telugu Bulls facing each other and at the end, the Challengers managed to win the game by 33-32 points.

However, things were not easy for the team from Tamil Nadu as they had got off to a terrible start in the first quarter of the match. At the half-time, it was the team from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana leading by 19-14 points. With Telugu dominating till the 30th minute of the match, tables turned in the last 10 minutes where Chennai staged an excellent comeback to win the game by just one point. Rajesh Dhiman was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant all-round show throughout the game for Chennai.

The matches at the Chamundi Vihar Stadium, Mysore will be played from May 24 before the teams travel to Bengaluru for the final leg at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium from June 1.
