Mittal scored 66 points in the men’s event and brilliantly maintained the lead till the final four shots before Russia's Vitaly Fokeev got the better of him and won the event with 68 points. Apart from Mittal, Sangram Dahiya, with 135 hits, finished in 20th place and Md. Asab in the 23rd with 133 hits, thus ending the qualifying round from the fifth spot in the Team category.

India finished five points adrift of Italy, who won Gold with 418 points. Another noteworthy mention should be of 17-year-old Ahvar Rizvi, who finished with 66 out of 80 targets in the individual final of junior category.

India have, however, won Gold in the junior men's double trap team event with a combined score of 401 as Italy finished with 389 with a silver and China won bronze with 387. Currently, Italy sit at the top of the table with six Gold medals and a total of 11 medals, compared to India’s one Gold and two Silver, which placed them in the fourth position.
