Mehuli Ghosh dominates KSS Memorial Shooting Championship with two golds

West Bengal's Mehuli Ghosh produced brilliant performances to win gold medals in both the Senior and Junior 10m Air Rifle event at the KSS Memorial Shooting Championship on Monday. Maharashtra's Nupur Patil edged Nischal Singh of Haryana to grab gold in Youth 10m Air Rifle event.

Indian youngsters provided a domineering display at the 18th KSS shooting championship on Monday. Commonwealth Games medalist Mehuli Ghosh, who topped the selections at the Dr. Karni Shooting range in Delhi on Sunday, continued her red-hot form in the following day.

Ghosh displayed by bagging gold medals in both the women's senior and junior 10m Air Rifle event on Monday. Ghosh topped qualifications in seniors with score of 632.7 and continued to flourish in her performance by shooting 250.5 and towered over Karnataka’s Megana Sajjanar (249.9) to take the first spot on the podium.

Gun for Glory (GFG) shooter from Madhya Pradesh, Shreya Agarwal, scored 228.3 to climb up on the third spot on the podium. In the junior category, Mehuli (252.1) used her experience to edge out C Kavi Rakshna (250.8) of Tamil Nadu to win her second gold of the day. Elavenil Valarivan settled for bronze with a score of 229.1.

In the women senior team event, Rajasthan clinched another team gold as Manini Kaushik combined with Simrat Chahal and Barkha at the top scores. In second place, Gujarat’s Valarivan, Lajja Goswami and Hema KC kept the contest closely fought to finish with a silver while Punjab’s Anjum Moudgil partnered experienced Avneet and Samiksha to claim a bronze medal.

In the Youth Women category, Maharashtra's Nupur Patil grabbed gold with scores of 250 as she edged out Haryana’s Nischal Singh who finished with a score of 248.7 to settle for silver. Madhya Pradesh’s Yana Rathore clinched the third spot with a score of 227.2.
