Shooting World Championships | Ankur Mittal, Shardul Vihan, and Mohammed Asab clinch bronze

The trio of Ankur Mittal, Shardul Vihan, and Mohammed Asab has bagged bronze in the double trap team event at the Shooting World Championships in South Korea. The team finished with a total score of 408, behind Italy and the China, who finished first and second, respectively.

The Indian shooting squad added to their medal tally at the ongoing Shooting World Championships in South Korea today as the Indian trio of Ankur Mittal, Mohammed Asab, and 15-year old child prodigy - Shardul Vihan, secured the bronze medal in the men’s double trap team event.

The Indian team recorded a total of 408 points amongst the three members of the squad. They narrowly finished behind China, who came second with a total of 410 while Italy finished first with a total of 411 points to clinch the gold medal in South Korea. Shardul, who became the youngest Indian to win the medal in the Asian Games, recorded a total of 133 points after the three rounds.

This is India’s 19th medal in the ongoing ISSF World Championship. Earlier, Anjum Moudgil finished ninth in the women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions and thereby missed qualification for the final by a place.

Ankur also clinched a gold medal in men's double trap event at the World Championship. The Indian managed to get the better of China’s Yiyang Yang and Slovakia’s Hubert Andrzej after the finals went into a shoot-off.

Yang finished with a silver after going down to the Indian by 4-3 in the shoot-off while Andrzej claimed bronze. The finals went into the shoot-off after  the scores of the three shooters were tied at 140 points each. The Indian was behind the other two but shot 30 in Round 5 to level the scores.
