India to host ISSF World Cup in 2020

India has got the hosting rights for the 2020 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Combined World Cup, confirmed the ISSF Executive Committee. The World Cup having all three rifle, pistol and shotgun events, will be played in New Delhi from March 15 to March 26 next year.

After hosting the ISSF World Cup earlier this year in February, capital city New Delhi will host another major shooting World Cup in 2020. The dates have been finalised by the Executive Committee of the international federation and were approved on Monday as well. The tournament will be played from March 15 to 26 in New Delhi next year ahead of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

“It is to confirm that the ISSF Executive Committee approved the dates of the 2020 ISSF World Cup stages. We herewith confirm that the dates for the ISSF World Cup in Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun events to be held in New Delhi, India, are as following: 15 March 26 March 2020,” the sport’s global body wrote in a letter to the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), reported PTI.

The tournament will be a combined World Cup and a good stage for the international shooters to get set ahead of the Olympics which will be held later in 2020. The World Cup which was held in India earlier in February this year offered Olympic quota places for Tokyo.
