Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation has gotten an astounding 304 applicants for the trial of Project Leap and will be short listing only 30 from them. The selected few youngsters would be a part of the elite programme’s third year aiming to improve Indian shooters at the grassroots level.

The ambitious “Project Leap”, backed by GNSPF has already got a huge response from shooters all over the country with over 300 aspiring shooters fighting it out for the 30 spots in the trials, which would be held from May 16 to 22 at the state-of-the-art Gun for Glory Shooting Academy in Pune.

Last year, the trial was made open to all the shooters under the age group of under-21 and the selected few got the chance to get trained by highly qualified and experienced international rifle and pistol coaches, who are mentored by the Olympic medalist, Narang, himself. And this year wouldn’t be any different.

“We initiated Project Leap with an ambitious goal of finding India its 10 best shooters as part of Vision 2024. We knew the potential of the Project Leap but had to start modest; the results have been phenomenal,” Narang said, reported PTI.

“Backed with the success of last two years we have rolled out the project for all youth and junior shooters with the hope of unearthing more talent who have been untapped so far,” he added.
