India bags 16 medals in International Wushu Championship

India won 16 medals in the International Wushu Championship held at Armenia in Europe. The Indian representation performed spectacularly to win 5 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals in the three-day competition. The win was even more special as 6 out of the 16 medals were won by J&K youths.

India ended their triumphal campaign in the International Wushu Championship in Armenia which was contested by 10 countries including India. The victory was even more special as youngsters from Jammu & Kashmir won 6 medals for India. The state of J&K has constantly been in headlines for violence and stone pelting but because of these people, India and their home state of J&K will be in the headlines for all the right reasons.

Sunil Dev Singh and Aijaz Hassan won gold while Pankaj Raina and Ladakhi Angmo won silver for the country. The Kashmiri girls weren't far behind as Jabeena Akhtar and Shabeena from Kashmir bagged bronze for India.

"It is really a dream come true and a great honour for me, my country and the state in particular that I won a gold for India," said Sunil Dev Singh, a resident of Jammu City, who won Gold and works as a physical instructor in Delhi Public School.
