Indian duo secure gold and silver medals in hammer throw in Japan

Indian pair of Ashish Jakhar and Damneet Singh secured the gold and the silver medals respectively at the ongoing 18th Asian Junior Athletics Championships in Japan. Jakhar got the gold for his massive 76.86m throw and was followed by Damneet who then threw a best of 74.08m to land in second place.

Indian youngsters have been on the rise in recent times after achieving massive results on the biggest stage across various sports. The latest sport where Indians have earned the country some recognition is in the field of athletics - the hammer throw to be more precise. 

The Young Indian pair of Ashish Jakhar and Damneet Singh secured the gold and silver medals respectively at the ongoing 18th Asian Junior Athletics Championships in Japan. The duo were way ahead with their throws than third-placed Masanobu Hattori of Japan who threw a best of 69.34m.

Jakhar created a new national u-20 record to clinch the gold medal with a throw of 76.86 in his second attempt. 

Damneet from the state of Punjab faced no challenge for his second spot as he also began with a throw of 70.42 and maintained the 70+ standard before hurling the 6kg hammer to his personal best of 74.08m in the last attempt to secure the silver medal.
