Manpreet Kaur is set to lose her national record and Asian title after being handed a four-year suspension by NADA for doping violations. Kaur was tested positive four times in 2017, first at the Asian Grand Prix, Federation Cup, Asian Athletics Championships and Inter-State championships in Guntur.

Indian shot putter Manpreet Kaur will have to give up her national record of 18.86m and her Asian Championships title as well after National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) authorities slapped a four-year ban on her for breaching doping violations in 2017. In an order dated March 29, anti-doping disciplinary panel (ADDP) led by Kuldeep Singh, stated that the period of ineligibility would commence from 20 July 2017 onwards up until the date of her provisional suspension. The panel also ruled that all her competitive results from the date of sample collection would be disqualified.

Kaur tested positive on four separate occasions in 2017, first at the Asian Grand Prix meet in China on 24 April, followed by the Federation Cup in Patiala in June. She also tested positive at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar a month later and the Inter-State championships in the same month. The Indian athlete stood first in all these events she participated in. On April 4, Kaur filed an appeal which sought a reduction of the ineligibility period.

Irrespective of the decision of the appeal panel, Kaur stands to lose all the results in meets where she tested positive including the Asian championships. Her national record of 18.86m in China will also cease to exist. Despite losing her mark of 18.86m, Kaur will still hold the national record at 17.96m which she set in Kolkata on 16 September 2015.
