India’s sporting body, Sports Authority of India, have renamed themselves and will be known as ‘Sports India’, as decided on Monday. After an hour-long meeting between the Sports Ministry and SAI officials at the Shastri Bhawan, an official stamp of approval was made to complete the change.

The Sports Authority of India underwent formal change and was renamed as 'Sports India' after an hour-long meeting between the sports ministry and SAI officials at the Shastri Bhawan on Monday. After coming to a consensus, SAI authorities put an official stamp of approval to the name change.

The meeting was chaired by Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. What remains now, is the formality to notify the Registrar of Societies about the change of name. This process will take a week or so once Rathore approves the minutes of the meeting.

Meanwhile, in other developments, there has been an update in the issuance of passports to Pakistan shooters in the upcoming ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol which is scheduled to be held in Delhi. Reports in TOI indicate that the Indian ministry of home affairs has sanctioned the visa application of shooters Muhammad Khalil Akhtar and Ghulam Mustafa Bashir. As per sources, coach Razi Ahmed's visa application has also been approved. The Indian high commission in Islamabad has been notified about the ministry's approval and the shooters and the coach will soon have their visas stamped by the high commission.
