Guruveer Singh, Anahat Singh and Rutvik Rau secure medals at the Singapore Junior Squash Open

Indian youngsters Guruveer Singh, Anahat Singh and Rutvik Rau shine at the Technoform City Junior Squash Open in Singapore as the trio bagged two gold and one silver medal respectively. Guruveer and Anahat won their medal in the U-11 category while Rutvik finished second in the U-19 boys’ category.

Indians made an impressive show in the Technoform Lion City junior squash open event here by winning two titles and earning a runner upplace in another age category here on Saturday.

The two winners came in the U-11 category with Guruveer Singh in the boys and Anahat Singh in the girls getting the honours. Both these talented children, the top seeds, did not lose a single game on way to the title. Guruveersingh defeated second seed Jayden Oon of Malaysia 11-8, 11-7, 11-4 in the final while Anahat beat the second seed from Singapore, Simmy Ong Zhe Sim 11-5,11-9, 11-2.

In the U-19 boys' section, Rutvik Rau, the top seed who had a smooth run to the title round, looked off colour in the final to lose to the second seed Sanjay Jeeva of Malaysia. Sanjay won 11-6, 11-8, 12-10.

Aside from these, there were other Indian juniors in the fray in this tournament. Ekam Singh came 5th in the U-15 category, Gitanjali Vasudevan also placed 5th in the girls u-15 section while Shreeman Raghavan was 7th in the U-17 boys placings.
