PSA World Squash Championship | India’s Saurav Ghosal enters quarter-finals

India’s Sourav Ghosal has entered the PSA World Squash Championship quarter-finals in Chicago after defeating Wales’ Joel Makin in a close contest. Ghosal is currently seeded 11th and this is the second time, the squash player has reached the last eight of a tournament, the last being in 2013.

Saurav Ghosal has entered the quarter-finals of the Professional Squash Association World Squash Championship. He was made to sweat in his game against Welsh professional squash player Joel Makin who had lost to the Indian again after losing to Ghosal in the CCI International, Mumbai in 2017.

The Kolkata based squash player defeated his opponent 11-13, 11-7, 11-7, 13-11 in the match after going down in the first set. Ghosal made a strong comeback and despite conquering the second and third sets, he initially went down in the fourth set at 5-8. But soon he recovered and put his experience to execution to emerge victorious with the score reading 13-11.

Joel Makin was unseeded but fought hard for every point on the scoreboard but let the Indian through after the early advantage as Ghosal emerged the better of the two. Overall, this is the second time Ghosal has made to the quarter finals stage of the championships and is all set to face the third seed German star Simon Rosner.
