The unseeded pair went ahead to beat the third seeded Koreans Woojin Jang and Jonghoon Lim in the platinum grade event.

After losing the first game 5-11 against the Koreans, the Indian duo came back strong in the next three and won the quarter-final game 5-11, 11-6, 14-12, 11-6. After becoming the first Indian pair to reach the top four of an ITTF World Tour Platinum Event, the Indians will meet another Korean duo in the semi-final. They will take on the top seeds Youngsik Jeong and Sangsee Lee of Korea.

"It was really good playing with Sathiyan. We are playing after [a gap of] two years. We started playing in Korean Open (held between July 4 and 7),” Amalraj told ITTF TV.

"It was a great win. The Koreans are the best in doubles. We need to take this confidence in our next match," explained Sathiyan.
