The PDPU Open Tennis Championship is the first event of its kind to be organized on such a large scale by a group of university students in Gujarat, with around 200 players from across the country participating in this gala.

Kawaliya & Jaimin defeat Parth Dhall & Himash Mehta -  6-7, 6-2, 10-8 

PDPU Open Tennis Championship had ultimate showdown yesterday on 26th October 2016. The day was scheduled for 3 finals in categories- women’s singles, men’s singles, and doubles. Urmi Pandya procured the first position in Women’s Singles by beating Parnika Mitra in finals. Urmi cracked the match by 6-0 and 6-1, winning the finals from best of three. Men’s Doubles beheld the excitement of finals in vying match won by Kawaliya & Jaimin overcoming Parth Dhall & Himansh Mehta. Kawaliya and Jaimin managed to get the trophy by hitting the scores in super tie-breaker in the last set. Yashad Ganatra clinched the title by beating Jaydeep Chudasma (01) in finals 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 and secured the first position.

Previously, the championship witnessed participation of top national players from Gujarat like Jaydeep Chudasma (01), Yashad Ganatra (02), Parth Dhall (03) and Utsav Patel. Meanwhile, junior players like Kapil Parmar (04) and Varun Dhandhukia (05) also stirred the competition by their performance. Almost all the seeds made it through to the quarter-finals of the event. Today on 25th October 2016, Yashad Ganatra (02) and Jaydeep Chudasma (01) secured their positions in finals of Men’s Singles category. While in men’s doubles category, experienced players like Ajay &  Atul, Suraj Desai & Mahesh Raval, and Yashad & Prakash vied their ways to quarter finals.  Parmika beats Divya in a tough tie-breaker with a closure of 7-5.
