Andy Murray looked quite different to the crowd as he donned a Tam o' Shanter complete with ginger wig to face Roger Federer during a charity game in Glasgow, who had borrowed a kilt from a female fan mid-game. The not so serious game ended in the Swiss’ favour, who won it 6-3 3-6 10-6.

This was the first time that Andy Murray returned to the court in public since suffering a hip injury at Wimbledon as he played an exhibition game against Roger Federer. Neither took the charity game seriously, which drew a decent turnout of 11, 000 at the SSE Hydro Stadium in Glasgow, and it ended with Federer winning 6-3 3-6 10-6.

After taking the first set 6-3, Federer was interviewed when he joked, "If anyone brings me a kilt, I will put it on."  A woman in the crowd appeared at the side of the court willing to give him hers, and Federer held up his end of the bargain.

In the second set, Murray came back with 6-3 win, setting up a decisive 10-point tiebreaker. Keeping the mood light, Federer presented Murray with a tartan hat with some gnarly fake hair attached, and the Scotsman put it on.

The World No. 2 ended up taking the tiebreak 10-6 to win the exhibition, and although Murray didn’t say if the hat troubled his playing, Federer later revealed, “When I took it off (the kilt) I felt naked because it was nice and snug and heavy.”

The world number two had earlier spoken of being welcomed to Scotland with shortbread made by "Andy's granny" and a can of Irn Bru.
