Indian Tennis player Niki Poonacha has claimed his maiden singles title after defeating Michael Look of Australia by 6-3, 6-1 in the final of the $25,000 ITF men's Futures Tennis Tournament held in Indonesia. Before the tournament, he had three doubles title recorded in his name as well.

Niki Poonacha was ecstatic to have achieved his first singles title. Despite the achievement, he believes this is just the start and he is determined to work towards achieving greater heights in his career.

“I feel incredibly happy. It is my first singles title on the Tour, coming after a long wait. It is just a start. I will work hard to win more,” said Poonacha.

Out of the three doubles title in his name, Poonacha shares one of those with Ramkumar Ramanathan. With his world ranking of 1111, the ITF title will be the first singles the player has achieved as he trains at the Rohan Bopanna tennis academy.

On the other hand, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, competing in the $100,000 Aptos Challenger in the US was disappointed as he lost to Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia by 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Eighth-seeded Prajnesh could not hold against the fourth-seeded Kokkinakis in the quarter-finals of the tournament. Converting three out of eight break points, Kokkinakis fired 10 aces, while Prajnesh was able to convert only two break points out of nine and delivered six aces.
